【ご報告/Notification】世界選手権大会で発生した事態について

　2023年6月30日（現地時間）に、米サンディエゴで開催されたラクロス男子世界選手権大会の5位決定戦での一連の痛ましい出来事に関連し、日本代表 #28 奥村選手がイングランド代表 #24 Baxter選手に対して行った退場ファールに相当するプレーについて、ご報告申し上げます。

　当該プレーについて、試合中には退場ファールのコールは行われませんでしたが、事後World Lacrosseからけん責に加えて奥村選手に課された処分は下記の通りです。

　”奥村選手が次回出場するWorld Lacrosse主催大会において、奥村選手が退場ファールのペナルティを課せられかつ規律委員会に掛けられた場合、最低2試合を出場停止とし、規律委員会が必要と認めれば追加の処分を課す。当該大会にてそのようなことが無かった場合は、この条件は無効となる。”

　JLAは、これを一連の出来事の経緯を考慮していただいた上での決定と理解しています。奥村選手はこの処分をすでに受け入れており、JLAはその判断を支持します。

　また、NPC（日本代表プロジェクト推進委員会）は、帰国後に第三者立ち合いの元で奥村選手に対して聴取を行い、奥村選手の行為自体はルールを逸脱したプレーであったと認めるものの追加的な処分は必要ないと判断しました。JLAは、本人への厳重注意を行うと共に、今回の一連の出来事に対して、世界のラクロスコミュニティに対してお詫びいたします。

　JLAはこれからも、全てのラクロス選手が安心して競技に取り組めるような環境を保つべく、所属選手とチームに対してルール順守の徹底と、フェアネスとスポーツマンシップ精神の大切さをより一層啓蒙してまいります。

Regarding on tragic incidents during the fifth-place game of 2023 WL Men’s Championship in San Diego on June 30, we would like to inform you of a behavior that constituted an expulsion foul by #28 Okumura of Japan against #24 Baxter of England. The following is the outcome of the WL Disciplinary Panel that was imposed on Okumura in addition to a formal reprimand.

“Should Okumura be selected to participate in any future World Lacrosse competition, and should he receive any game expulsion in that event, which is subject to a disciplinary review, the outcome will be an automatic minimum 2-game suspension, and any further penalties if imposed by that event’s disciplinary panel. This sanction pertains only to the next event that Okumura is selected in. If there is no disciplinary action required in this next event, the penalty by World Lacrosse becomes null and void.”

JLA understands that this is based on a decision considering this extraordinary circumstance of this incident. Okumura has already accepted this punishment and the JLA supports his decision.

The NPC (Japan National Team Project Promotion Committee) interviewed Okumura in the presence of an external professional upon his return to Japan, and while the NPC acknowledged that Okumura’s conduct itself was an infraction of the rules, the NPC determined that no additional disciplinary action was necessary. The JLA will issue a stern warning to Okumura and apologizes to the global lacrosse community about this regrettable incident.

JLA will continue to educate its players and teams on the importance of strict compliance with the rules, fairness, integrity and sportsmanship in order to maintain a safety for all lacrosse players.
